“Minka” is the Quechuan word for teamwork. It refers to a proud Inca tradition practiced throughout several South American countries. The concept is simple, but beautiful: A community comes together, working as one, for the good of all.
Andean aborigines created the word “minka” to give meaning to this noble activity of community work done for the collective benefit of all participants. This word changed over time, and today it is pronounced “minga” while being practiced in Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina. Our team collaborates with dozens of cocoa producers in various regions of Ecuador to ensure you receive cocoa products worthy of the tradition for which they are named. We join forces to make sure the grain is harvested to perfection and the fermenting cocoa beans are attended to with care. We unite to see to it that once those beans are ready, they are carefully escorted to Tendales, so that they may soak in the Ecuadorian sun and then luxuriate in the cool mountain breezes.
Collectively, we work to ensure that the natural rich flavors of the beans are preserved and then, at the exact right point, melted into a fine melt chocolate that is unparalleled in depth and substance.
